Purpose of use:
The FSH rapid test (Urine) is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative determination of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in urine. To support menopause detection. The determination is performed by urinating into the absorbent end of the test or by immersing it in urine and reading the result (after 3 min) from the colored lines.
Menopause means the end of menstruation, but it is usually not diagnosed until one year after the end of menstrual bleeding. The period that precedes menopause and continues for 12 months after it is called perimenopause. Many women experience symptoms during this period, including hot flashes, irregular periods, sleep disturbances, vaginal dryness, hair loss, anxiety and mood swings, transient memory loss and exhaustion. The onset of perimenopause is caused by changes in the levels of hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle in a woman’s body. As the body produces less and less estrogen, the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) increases. FSH normally regulates the development of a woman’s eggs. Therefore, testing for FSH can help determine whether a woman is in perimenopause. If a woman knows she is in perimenopause, she can act accordingly to keep her body healthy and avoid the health risks associated with menopause (e.g. osteoporosis, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and increased risk of heart disease)

Technical information:
Read the user manual carefully before testing. The main stages of the test:
– The start date of the testing is determined (instructions in the package leaflet)
– Urine sample (preferably morning urine)
– The test stick is dipped into the urine sample OR the test stick is taken directly into the urine stream
– The result will be read after 3 minutes from the color lines of the test:
POSITIVE: Two lines are visible and the test line is the same color or darker than the control line.
NEGATIVE: Two lines are visible and the test line is lighter than the control line.
– The result is interpreted based on the table in the package leaflet
– The limit value of the FSH rapid test is 25 mIU/ml.
Note:
You need a sample collection container if you choose the option to test by dipping the test stick into urine. The dish should be clean and dry. For example, a porcelain coffee cup works well.
If you still have menstrual bleeding every month, take the first test in the first week of your period (days 2-7, with day 1 being the first day of your period). If the result is negative, but the symptoms persist, take another test a week later. If you no longer have regular periods, you can take the test at any time of the month and take another test a week later.
