The Monkeypox Virus DNA Real Time Diagnostic Kit (Freeze-dried) is used for the qualitative detection of Monkeypox Virus in serum, whole blood or skin lesion material from human, including swabs of lesion surface and/or exudate, roofs from more than one lesion, or lesion crusts. Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus. Monkeypox virus is a DNA virus that belongs to the genus Orthopoxvirus in the family Poxviridae. The initial symptoms include fever, headache, lymphadenopathy, muscle soreness, and severe fatigue. After a few days of fever, it develops into a large skin rash on the face and other parts of the body, and may cause secondary infections, bronchitis, and septicemia.

The test results of this kit can be used for the auxiliary diagnosis of monkeypox virus infections and provide the basis for molecular diagnosis of monkeypox virus infection. This kit cannot identify the specific type of monkeypox virus. The test results only serve as clinical references and cannot be used alone as a basis for confirming the diagnosis or excluding the disease. It’s recommended that the patient’s medical condition should be comprehensively analyzed based on the patient’s clinical manifestations and other laboratory tests.

The kit adopts the multiplex PCR-fluorescent probe technology and regent freeze-drying technology and takes monkeypox virus-specific conserved sequences as target regions. It uses target gene detection primers and probes, and the PCR reaction system for detection. The threshold cycle number (Ct value) is used to judge the result.

The kit contains UNG enzyme and dUTP, which can help reduce the possible contamination and avoid false positive results. At the same time, the kit contains human housekeeping genes, which are used to monitor sampling, extraction, sample addition, amplification, and other processes as an internal control. This can effectively ensure the specificity and accuracy of test results.
